Our Story
Mahjong Row & Co. began with a longing to create beauty that connects with pieces that invite us to slow down, gather, and celebrate life’s little moments.
For founder Tricia, the spark came from a game among friends that felt unexpectedly soulful. What began as a simple curiosity soon became something more meaningful: a ritual of connection and belonging. Inspired by the textures and tones that fill her home, she envisioned mahjong sets that could live beautifully alongside modern home goods—crafted to be displayed, played, and cherished for generations.
Guided by an appreciation for heritage and a love of quiet design, Mahjong Row & Co. reimagines play through a lens of artistry and intention. Each piece is designed to honor the legacy of mahjong while bringing timeless beauty to the rhythms of modern life.
A Note from Tricia
Mahjong began as a way for me to keep my mind sharp, inspired by my late father who lived with Alzheimer’s. I first approached the game for mental acuity, but what surprised me was the emotional connection I felt to the textures, sounds, and colors. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creating surroundings that tell a story and fill the soul—spaces layered with texture, warmth, and meaning that bring peace and a sense of well-being.
As a therapist who has practiced for decades, I’ve learned that this yearning for beauty has a name: neuroaesthetics. At its core, it’s how our brains respond to beauty, design, and artistic experiences—whether found in nature, interiors, objects, or human connection. These experiences can shape our mood, our behavior, and even our health.
Even before I knew there was science behind the brain’s response to beauty, I found myself arranging spaces with intention—seeking harmony, clarity, and room to breathe. That instinct became the seed of Mahjong Row & Co., and it remains at the heart of my design philosophy.
Today, from my home in Dallas, I design for connection. Mahjong Row & Co. is a celebration of a simple truth I hold deeply: that beauty and belonging are intertwined, and that the spaces we curate can nurture not just our style, but our souls. My hope is to inspire that same sense of purpose in others.
